Why Camp Kiniya: A Traditional Summer Camp for Girls
At Camp Kiniya, we believe deeply in the life-changing impact of a summer spent growing, exploring, and discovering one’s potential. What makes Kiniya uniquely powerful as a girls’ summer camp is our commitment to a well-rounded experience—one that intentionally blends the arts, athletics, outdoor adventure, and spirituality. As a generalist camp, we encourage girls to stretch themselves in many directions rather than specialize too early, allowing them to uncover new passions and build confidence along the way. Just as importantly, Kiniya is an unplugged, overnight camp where girls step away from constant digital noise and reconnect with the simple joy of face-to-face friendships, shared cabins, and meaningful mentorship. Our Cabin Leaders—young women who grew up in our program—serve as powerful role models, guiding campers through daily challenges and triumphs with understanding, humor, and heart.
The Kiniya experience is intentionally designed to leave a lasting imprint. Our 25 day session gives girls the time and space to fully immerse themselves in camp life, push past comfort zones, and take pride in mastering new skills. Long after the summer ends, the lessons, friendships, and sense of belonging travel home with them—becoming part of a lifelong community that continues through alumni connections and future leadership roles at camp. With a legacy dating back to 1919, Camp Kiniya is one of the oldest continually operated summer camps for girls in the country, and we honor that history every day by staying true to our founding mission: helping girls lead balanced, purposeful lives and inspiring them to seek something greater than themselves—living out our timeless motto, “the other fellow first.”
