Assistant Director, Dudley (1989)
Evan is responsible for the coordination, outreach, and development of our admissions/enrollment process with particular attention to expanding diversity. He also heads up our Leadership Development Program, working to develop the next generation of Dudley Leaders. During the summer, Evan is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the Dudley Program. Evan first came to Sunday Chapel in 1987 when his father, Rev. Floyd E. (“Skip”) George, III, preached at Dudley. After a visit to Beckman Dining Hall after the service, he was hooked. With the help of a generous scholarship award, Evan became a camper from 1989-94. He returned as a Leader in 2000 and became Senior Division Head from 2001-2003, and then Boathouse Chief in 2004. Dudley has never been far from his heart as here he met his wife, #18079 Diana McGuigan. Nephews/nieces #20695 Jacob Martz, #21854 Samuel Scott, #22554 Ben Scott, and #22879 Hannah McGuigan followed. Evan graduated from Hobart College in 2001, and then taught English and coached soccer at the Winchendon School in Massachusetts (NEPSAC Class B Championship in 2003!). Evan returned to New York City in 2005 as a program administrator for Working In Support of Education, Inc. in New York City and then became a Fellow at the Coro New York Leadership Center. Before coming back to Camp, Evan was a Project Manager with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation for 5 years.
Evan and Diana live year-round in Westport and feel very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. When not working on campus, Evan serves on the Board of Trustees for UVM Health Network – Elizabethtown Community Hospital and is the Head Coach for the Boquet Valley Central School boys varsity soccer team. Go Griffins!
