Camp Kiniya Archive

Welcome to the Camp Kiniya Archives—a place built for you, our Kiniya alums.

For generations, Kiniya has been shaped by the people, moments, and traditions that make it so special. Dating back to 1919, we’ve worked hard to preserve and celebrate that incredible history. This page brings it all together in one place.

Here, you’ll find hundreds of photos capturing life at camp across the decades, a full collection of The Spirit, and countless glimpses into the experiences that have defined Kiniya for over a century.

We invite you to take your time, revisit old memories, and discover new ones. Enjoy exploring the Archives and all that it has to offer—and if you feel inspired, you can support our archival efforts by making a gift to the Annual Fund.

Explore Our Past

The Greatest Kiniya Treasure, adapted from an article in The Other Fellow First, centers on a 1928 Camp Kiniya brochure discovered in the archives. It highlights how many of the values, traditions, and experiences described nearly a century ago still ring true today. Through this piece, past and present come together to show the enduring spirit of Kiniya.

From the Kiniya Archives highlights a special discovery of remarkable archival items uncovered from Kiniya’s past. Featuring materials from 1927–1929, including a rare camp pin and more, it offers a glimpse into early camp life. Together, these pieces reflect the enduring traditions and spirit that continue to define Kiniya today.

The Helen Van Buren Book is an incredible piece of history created by Kiniya’s first director, Helen Van Buren. Filled with an astonishing collection of historic photos and narrative, it offers a firsthand look at the camp’s earliest days. Through her words and images, the foundations of Kiniya’s spirit and traditions come to life.

Camp Kiniya Storyboard brings together a rich collection of photos and written accounts from 1919–1946. It captures the early years as buildings and other structures came into place, along with the people and moments that shaped camp life.
