#16242 John Dempsey first came to camp as a full-season cub in 1994.  Originally from Milwaukee but with roots in upstate NY via his father, #9942 Tom, John grew up hearing a lot about Dudley and was thrilled to finally attend camp himself.

John spent nine of his next 10 summers at Dudley, including three as a leader from 2002 to 2004.  John treasured his time at Camp and appreciates the diversity of experiences it provided him as a child and young adult.  He is particularly grateful to the leaders he had along the way who made Camp such an enriching place.

A regular attendee at August reunions, John was proud to see his son, #27142 Jack, start at Dudley in 2024 and his daughter, #27542 Nora, begin at Kiniya in 2025.  His youngest daughter, Maeve, is already a seasoned veteran of long car rides to the North Country for drop-off and pick-up! John and his wife Alison live in Chatham, NJ.  

Professionally, John is the CEO of Bluepoint Wind, where he leads the development of an offshore wind project 50 miles east of the Jersey Shore.  John is also a Trustee of Students 2 Science, a nonprofit organization in New Jersey that focuses on providing hands-on STEM education to students in the region. John received his BA from Loyola Maryland and an MBA from NYU.

John is honored to serve on the Board of Trustees and looks forward to supporting the continued success of Dudley and Kiniya.
